The xbox live update is coming up. What type of Netflix account is needed to reap the benefits?

A paid one? Any Netflix account that isn't just a trial will be able to watch the movies on the Xbox.

To get unlimited streaming you need an account thats 10 bucks a month or more.

The lowest tier of Netflix only allows 2 hours of video streaming a month.

I personally use the 2 DVD at a time deal. It gives me unlimited streaming.

For the Xbox 360 Netflix ability you need/should have a broadband connection of course and a Netflix unlimited account.

You can't connect to Xbox Live with out broadband.
