My ideal dream computer is one which changes as per circumstance i.e. turns into Desktop when I want to play games, changes to laptop when I am travelling on business, into tablet when I am sitting in garden and putting my thoughts in form of scribles and drawings, into server when I am hosting my site, into TV when want to see some news items, into photo frame album when I wanna show my recent shoots to my grandma (who do not like to see in computer and prefer album) and so on.

Such an idea could be done, but not out of one unit. If you had all the above they could be on a network and all use the sever as storage.

I would like a computer with an 80-core processor. I know that they have successfully tested these in the lab.

Which brings up a question. How many cores does Vista recognize. Maybe 80 cores wouldn't do anything if Vista was only coded to manage 4...

hmmmmm.

An Asus L1N64-SLI WS, With a pair of Nvidia 8800 GTX graphics cards in SLi, 8GB of high performance CORSAIR DDR-2 PC-1000 ram, A pair of quad-core operton server processors, 12 500GB High performance SATA III HDDs (connected as a sata 0+1 array, giving 6TB ^.^ of space) and a cool looking case. Vista Ultimate or Linux would be good too. A 2000w Gaming PSU (to be on the safe side) and a MASSIVE UPS would be there too. Plus Quake 4 and the ORANGE BOX. It would be kind of pricey :(. Not very green either.

If the computer had to be commercially available right now, it would be a Windows Vista Ultimate computer, from Dell. I would get their top-of-the-line XPS 720 H2C computer, with the optional clear-screen side panel. The specs would be:

Intel® Core™2 Extreme QX6850 (8MB,3.67GHz Factory overclocked) (4 super processors, baby!)

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs, Corsair Memory.(800MHz. Need I say more?)

2TB Performance RAID 0 (2 x 1TB Hitachi SATA 3Gb/s 7200 RPM HDDs)(2TB, try filling this thing up.)

Single Drive: Blu-ray Disc Drive (BD/DVD/CD burner w/double layer BD write.(A computer with Blue Ray...)

24 inch UltraSharp™ 2407WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel.(I'd actually just go out and buy my own TV.)

Dual 768MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra(Only the best...)

AGEIA® PhysX® physics accelerator(Not sure what this does, but it looks cool!)

Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer (D) Sound Card(Of course, I'd also get some speakers...)

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (what would be a gaming computer without a gaming keyboard?)

LOGITECH G5 Laser Gaming Mouse (A mouse to match the keyboard...)

19 in 1 Media Card Reader and 3.5 in Floppy Drive (In case it ever comes in handy...)

ATI Theater 650 PRO Combo Analog/Digital TV Tuner with Remote Control(So I can actually watch TV on my TV)

If you don't want to read my post, you could always just go here: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DXCWZH6&s=dhs

lol.

I would when my dream machine only has 4gig for install of OS.
Also compatability isn't as good as XP, nothing gonna piss me off more than not being able to play a game due to software (although it would be a change from my usuall hardware limits).
I must ask, do you use Vista?

Yes, and on TWO gigs of ram, it works 100% fine for me.

Then again, I'm not a gamer. =P

The extra features are useful.
