this is going to be fun!
No it is my opinion, something which you were obviously ignorant to graciously accept. I am simply gesturing that people all to often use social networking sites to big up their ego and behave in ways which they wouldn't do offline in order to win friends/respect.
I did graciously accept your opinion, then I told you it is a bad opinion. As for the latter of these statements, thank you for beefing up my argument.
It means different things to different people in different context. The platform/paradigm for social networking has changed as the internet has evolved.
I might have thought that to have been true if I were just a normal sap, but with the magic of dissecting phrases we can see the following words (these definitions came straight from the dictionary):
a)Social (adj.) - relating to human society and its members;
b)Network (n.) - an interconnected system of things or people;
the only reason you think the meaning has changed is because it is so often associated with websites like Myspace that we forget the real meaning sometimes. It happens. An example is "PC." most people now associate this acronym with microsoft, but in reality it is just a personal computer. Even a calculator is a PC.
You are putting words into my mouth and besides which who said that what I say is true? who says what you say is true? The only thing that is true is that we have two separate opinions. As with politics, the people get the Internet they deserve.
Now you are just backing away from the whole argument. Also, I did not put words in your mouth. I simply quoted the words
you put in your mouth. you said, " Social networks aren't contributing a great deal to the the net IMO." the clause "social networks" is generalized therefore saying that social networks in general aren't contributing to the net. you can fix this with eight easy keystrokes, by adding the word internet to the beginning. Then I would have agreed with you.
Maybe not, but they have an impact on social behaviour and interactions.
once again, this is caused by people. unless you are two years old, you choose to let it influence you. I myself let myself influence myself.
Not all sites do, and can you honestly say you know what happens to all the data you enter into forms?
Yes I know what happens to data when gets entered to the form. Let me walk you through the processes at work.
1. I enter the the stuff I want to enter (Input)
2. I press submit (user input again)
3. the code in the program that processes this info parses the data (the code in the program is written by people and tells the website to do things to the data).
4. the now parsed data now gets sent (by means of a predetermined command) from the human created program/web site to a server which holds the data for a set period of time until it is called upon for use.
so you see, everything happens as a result from human commands. your computer clock isn't autonomous. it is given a set of commands that it follows. sometimes it syncs up with a server, but even that command is written by a human.
By that logic you could say that drugs are not destroying society because they are made by people.
very good. that actually is true and thank you for supporting my argument again. drugs don't ruin society or take lives by themselves. humans have to take the drug (this is the equivalent to a comp. command), and the drug simply follows through. and why does the harmful drug exist? because humans make them.
