Torn City:
http://www.torncity.com
Sure, it's jumped on the mafia-inspired PBBG bandwagon, but it's certainly one of the more popular ones around; they've had as many as 25 000 logins in a single 24 hour period. Personally I think it lacks both style and substance, and doesn't do anything new or differently, yet somehow keeps drawing you back.

Legacy Online:
http://www.legacy-game.net
A browser-based game with a long history stretching back several years in various incarnations. Originally it employed a gangster-inspired theme (hence the name of it's first full incarnation, Gangsterz), but has since moved away from this theme enough to justify the change to it's current name. It has a heavy focus on PvP and character customisation, but there's plenty of bot fighting (known in-game as "hunting") on offer - for a price. Graphically it's the most impressive-looking BBG I've ever seen, and aside from the standard fare, it also implements what is known as the Wasteland - a 15x15 wasteland grid which four gangs fight for control of. Each player is assigned to one of these gangs, though they can leave and go "Rogue", or even join another gang. There are also TONS of items on offer, and the game's creator, "Zorg", is 100% dedicated to this one. And I haven't even scratched the surface. It's one of my favourites, definitely worth checking out.

Lords of Lords
http://www.lordsoflords.com/
The creator started out with Medow (which has become Medow2) and seems to be on .net now.

Ijji Gunz
http://gunz.ijji.com/
Live out your fantasy of being an action hero in this unique online multiplayer game.

Robot Rage
http://miniclip2.shockplay.com/robotrage/default.php
Build the best robot you can. Win battles to earn points and use points to buy upgrades. Take on the world.

Rappelz
http://rappelz.gpotato.com
A very good MMORPG in a VERY LARGE world.

The Chronicles of Spellborn
http://tcos.com/news/index.php

Requiem: Bloodymare (by Gravity. Looks pretty awesome)
http://www.playrequiem.com/

Ogame
www.ogame.org
Develop your planet and colonies, fight with space ships.

Gladiatus
www.gladiatus.com
You are a gladiator , earn honor , level and equipment.

Here's another two, with my two cent's worth (no pun intended) tacked on.

That's a BIG list. If I had to join one, which one would it be? I'm not really into MMOs anymore, so do you know one which has less grinding? (kinda impossible)

What I'm mainly looking for is a downloadable client (not anything text based/Runescape style) and eyeCandy - This is a must. I basically don't play much that isn't nice to look at. :D And yeah, less grinding = better.

+Rep anyway

Gunz is pretty good... but one thing that annoys me is that you have to log in through their website. On the international version, which is still in beta phase, you can just log in through the game. That's soft. But I dislike the thing that they don't have any quest system yet.

I still haven't tried out the clan wars though.

All the free mmos I've played have been so boring with all the grinding to level up or bad graphics or bad lag, maybe its just me but I really don't like mmos anymore

Well of course they closed xS they are not all big time games like others out there. Some were just used for personal fun and all. Others never seemed to get any funds from it at all. So, of course they will close, because they didn't see any advantage to having it on.
