Hi ghardin,

You are receiving this error message because we have a hard limit set on the number of files and directories an account can hold, which is set at 50,000. Your account is currently hitting this limit. I took a quick look at your account, and it seems that you have approximately 50,000 files in your account's .trash folder. Would you be happy with me deleting this? :)

Thank you,

Absolutely!! Where is the trash folder so I can make sure it is empty all of the time. I have no need for it.

Here is a problem with this scenario- When I hit this limit, and there was no warning regarding it, I could not access the cpanel so that I could empty that trash. Now I have no problem with the limit as it is set. But not giving me a warning that I was approaching it so I could take action and then shutting down my access to the cpanel and preventing me from fixing it on my own just does not seem very fair! I understand that this is free hosting and all, but you still need to make this functional and usable.

Hi ghardin,

Great to see this issue has been solved. The error message you were getting is caused because cPanel attempts to modify a file on your behalf, but the software that controls the quota prevents it from doing so. This is an unfortunate limitation of the software we use. You can remove any files using FTP.

Few users ever hit the inode limit due to how high it is already set, but we try to inform users of the limit. On the left of your cPanel home page, in the statistics section, your current number of inodes is always shown. I appreciate the feedback, though, and I'll try to add some documentation on the inode limit in our Knowledge Base, to help make the limit more clear. :)

Thank you,

in [ cPanel x3 ] --> [ File Manager ] - it is above [ plublic_html ]
and is a 'dot' file - so be sure to check [ Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) ]

you can also use the 'default' FTP for your account
