Because we were trained to dislike Macs. Almost everyone in the computer field disliked Macs in the past. Now that OSX is based on BSD (Unix), there have been many "converts". Practically the whole IT staff are using Macs. I couldnt believe it myself. For my job I had to get a new (second)...

    What's your favourite Operating System?

I vote "YES" I cannot vote for a single OS. I like Linux due to the FREEWARE / OPEN SOURCE SPIRIT (Specifically Ubuntu due to ease of use, no adding to sudoers file and no appending /sbin/ to common utilities like ifconfig) I like OSX due to stability and performance (BSD based) (Likely a...

    OpenDNS

I've set my router to use OpenDNS for about two weeks now. I have had some "Waiting for..." at the bottom of firefox a few times, but then again i had used the link below to config also, so was not sure which is the issue. However i'd say for the most part, it does not seem to give me...

    Is this config ok ?

I used to be a ViewSonic only purchaser, but recently tried LG, and both my wife and myself love our LG's. The only thing I would change is the non-adjustable base (stand).

    Windows XP updates

Weel that's a lot of work and yes, i've been there. I can suggest making an image of the system after all your hard work. So that next time they destroy it, you have a better starting place. ...Use CloneZilla -- it's like Ghost or Acronis, but free.

I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on every computer i'm asked to "fix" (non-profit) Also somewhere (maybe these forums) i found "UnHackMe" which cleaned some rootkits, although user-interface has much to be desired, it did quite well.

    Installing Linux

I agree, an internet service is practically a requirement. My biggest complaint about linux is VIDEO DRIVERS. Installing official drivers is a pain, and most attempts are unsuccessful for me. I'm sure guides are available somewhere, but let me just give a little info: You can use VMWare or...
