I can see some gray on the sides of your website and the fact that the background doesn't scroll makes the scrolling a little jerky. Otherwise, great job!

The best way I can think of this would be to be to just use a photo editing program like The GIMP or Photoshop to add the drop shadow and other effects you want. The reasoning behind this is you will know exactly what your users are viewing. Plus, not many browsers support those kind of effects.

You will not be able to play Counter Strike if you get a mac. The only game for Mac is world of warcraft. You will need a whole lot more RAM if you want to play games though, vista just eats it all up. I am running with 4Gb right now and I wish I could add some more. If you want to play games...
