    Greetings Earthlings

I must say that this is one of the best social sites as well as technical. It seems that web development brings in all kinds of people and careers. That is great because you get to meet so many different people from all over the world, who have different ideas on how to do the same stuff. It...

Thank you Smith6612! This is one of the most refreshing services I've seen in a while.

Is your menu straight HTML or does it include <?php ?> tags, also? Also, does it contain javascript or references to javascript that is dependent on tag names or ids?

    [PHP] Using it in forms!

Your code above will always show "activated" or "incorrect" because you are always setting the $error variable to one or the other. You are checking variable $check and either setting variable $error to one or the other because of the if / else condition. Is this the problem you are seeing?

    Monitoring Server Usage

You may have already checked this out on cpanel, but there is under the databases row a phpMyAdmin link. If you take that link then on the next page under localhost is a link entitled "Show MySQL runtime information". That link may be useful to you. I haven't checked it out completely, but it...

Dude, you are out of control! :) I'm into astronomy but have not yet purchased a telescope. A while back I bought some binoculars and have been exploring with those. Without equipment I can pick out the Andromeda galaxy, Perseus double cluster, etc. I hope to buy a telescope this Christmas...

    Random Information

Expanding on freecrm's idea, you could have a text file or db table with a list of files to show. You can read the list into an array, then pick a random number between 1 and the number of files, inclusive. This way you can add to the list of files at will by adding to the text file or db...

100 % satisfied with free service!

As a veteran developer but a relatively new web developer I feel that this site is hands-down the best free stuff anywhere. I did have some trouble signing up, but my confusion was immediately handled by staff, admin, and other members. Given (from what I can tell) the fairly young ages of...

    Greetings Earthlings

Thank you for the compliment, but no I am not a physicist. :) I a computer nerd (or geek, or both, not sure which). I have a B.S. degree in Computer Science with a heavy minor in Mathematics. I just love systems analysis, development, programming, etc. I have done most everything and I see...

    Monitoring Server Usage

As a past and present database administrator, the term "inner joins the entire database" is a red flag to me. What kind of information are you storing and retrieving that requires querying the entire database?

    Greetings Earthlings

Hey everyone! I've been programming for 20+ years (25+ if you count starting in the 9th grade on a Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80). This is my first foray into public hosting. I've done some web stuff for work purposes, but this is more fun! Web development is sort of new to me, but it is a good...

    PHP / Maths problem

Thanks for the question and everyone's involvement. This reminds me of some areas at work where I can use some running averages to compare systems, response times, etc. This is a cool forum. :)

    PHP / Maths problem

I believe you want the files to store the number of rolls so far and the grand total of all rolls so far. You can compute the running average as the grand total of all rolls divided by the total number or rolls (values obtained from the files). You can present the average to the user when...
