Wordpress every time. The sheer ease of use and configurability with all the plugins and themes available for expanding it to what you want. I've tried Google Blogger but while its easy to use and good for a nooby, I just don't like it :)

I've checked out the wp-config.php file papichulo_carioco but it all seems fine to me, db username and password seem to be correct so does everything else. Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks LadyAnna looked through the plugins and the only one I can find that states it uses AJAX is WP-Polls so have deactivated and will see if that makes a difference.
