Usually they are installed in a specific location on the server where apps call them. If you want to know where they are and how they are used, please check the knowledgebase (x10hosting.com/kb), wiki (x10hosting.com/wiki) or make a support request, because the admins know better.

One update: X10 uses POP3/IMAP and SMTP for mail. So it should work on ANY client. I think u need to check your configurations.
