I prefer dual boot because it sets a clear cut beteween two OS.. In the case of Virtualization if virus attacks host it may also effect guest os. But it wont be in the case of Dual Boot ( I use Dual Boot With WIndows And Linux)

If you r looking to restore a databse from your sytem to X10 server you can use IMPORT/ Export option.......

If you have domain control panel password use free dns service like everydns.net Then set necessary "A" records pointing to X10... i thik this might solve your problem.(since u told u cant use x10 nameserver)

Most probably the scripts you used will be against X10 rules... check it..
