A winter tip...

Something I normally do in October or early November every year, but with the abnormally mild fall, didn't do... PREP THE SNOWBLOWER!!!!

It really stinks when you suddenly wake up to 6" of heavy, wet snow and the snowblower is still burried under all the stuff that got stored on and around it all spring, summer and fall.

Talk about a rotten way to start the day!!!!!

We get that every day out where I am. Yesterday we FINALLY purchased a snow blower so that I'm not outside clearing snow drifts and feet of snow/slush/ice from the driveway for several hours some times every week. We haven't gotten it yet but it should arrive within the next few days.

Out where I am, where the snow is heavy and unpredictable, we order Two Stage snow blowers. They work the best in that kind of stuff.

Where abouts are you? Sounds a lot like here in Central NY where Lake Effect Snow is an every day event each winter.

2 stage all the way here in the shadow of Lake Ontario. Lake effect snow dumps on us all winter.

Average annual snowfall at my house is well over 10 feet of snow each winter. Generally comes in 4 to 8 inch increments. Light years we might see as little as 8 feet of snow, heavy years can be as much as 15 feet. The folks directly off the East end of the lake (Tug Hill Plateau) often see as much as 25-30 feet of snow each year.

A 2 stage snowblower is a MUST. Those little Toro single stage snow"throwers" just won't stand up to our winters.

We don't get snow in Sweden (central part and downwards) anymore

It started snowing here the day before yesterday. We've currently got a couple inches. I don't get a whole lot of time to get out in it. Actually, that's not true; I could make time if I really wanted, but I don't usually.

I'm actually in Western New York. Lake Erie and Lake Ontario do hit us with snow all the time.
