Try adding another account in cpanel and using that one.

Also, ensure your firewall isn't blocking any connections, and that your username and password are correct.

Use cpanel username and password to connect through ftp...

and remember your host is you main domain. e.g http://yoursite.x10hosting.com

You need to set the nameservers of the domain to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com before you can use FTP
