When I first made my account it was suspended legitimately for not logging in for two weeks. After that, each suspension has gotten quicker and quicker. Now I have to log in once a day to avoid having my account suspended.

  • suspension Jun 23
  • unsuspension Jun 25
  • suspension Jun 28
  • unsuspension Jul 2
  • suspension Jul 6
  • unsuspension Jul 17
  • suspension Jul 18
  • unsuspension Jul 20
  • suspension Jul 20
  • unsuspension Jul 21
  • suspension Jul 21
  • unsuspension Jul 21
  • suspension Jul 22
Is this normal? Is this how they annoy people into paying for their service?
I made the account under the assumption I would have to log in once every two weeks, not once a day.

No, it's not normal.

It usually happens to someone who isn't doing something correctly in terms of logging in.

If you use Search, there has been advice posted in various similar threads, to help avoid this kind of thing happening.

If you still get the problem, there may be a fault with your account, for which you will need to open a Support ticket to get it fixed. :)

Yes, make sure it is the forums you are logging into, and also, it must be in this order.

Unsuspension (once you submit for it, and it's proccessed (your account is unsuspended) ) -> forums

if you login to the forums before you're unsuspended, I'm fairly certain that the system still doesn't know that you've logged into the forums.

Yeah, there's loads of other suggestions been posted in numerous similar threads, including allowing/ clearing cookies & cache, browsing the forums for long enough to get "noticed" by the system, actually typing the login rather than just using Auto-fill, allowing for the fact that the suspension message relates to previous inactivity & takes time to process new activity, etc etc.

That's why I said use Search, rather than just posting 1 or 2 tips as you have done. Some or all of these may be useful, some may be incorrect!

We really need all these tips in one place, & for them to be vetted by admin.

The sooner this new Knowledge Base gets completed, the better. :)

I still think the best way to ensure you have been noticed is to make a post.. It's simple, and it's logged..

Agreed.

Just make sure it's a useful post though, & not spam. ;)

The system is set up, as far as I understand, that it sets a record in SQL for your account that you've logged in, as soon as you log in and it processes the login... No need to post if you don't want to.

I only say that because some members are scared away from the hosting if they think they have to post to maintain the hosting.

yes, the system sets a value in the database. Although I do not know exactly how it works with vbulletin, another forum soft that I used had a small "issue" with the logging.

If you use the login script, in other words manually login and logout each time that value is set instantly upon login. If you have set the forum to remember you it can take a few minutes for it to log you (the other system I tried took unexpectedly long time sometimes to log the activity).

This was due to the logging part of the script being set on some sort of timer, like every x minutes check who's online, again I don't know how vBulletin handles this, but it is fairly reasonable to guess it is similar. If it wasn't timed it would probably be a resource hog.

I believe they are using a form of vb-link (originally for a whmcs bridge). But who knows.
