So my account was suspended last month, for supposed inactivity.
I browsed the forums several times waiting for my account to be unsuspended, but no luck.
Now for my shock, a few days later, my account has been terminated.

WHAT THE HELL ???

There was a huge load of content on that site wrote both my me and my colleagues.
Many, many hours and sleepless nights went in writing all the articles, news hunting and so on, and we were finally starting to get a steady flow of visitors.

Now seeing all this gone to dust is heart breaking, almost shocking.

I want to ask you please, reactivate my account with all the content that was in there.

When your suspended for inactivity, you must login to the control panel (http://x10hosting.com/control) and unsuspend yourself.
The system will never automatically unsuspend you.

I am also sorry to say that once an account is terminated, all the data is lost.

Well I don't even know what to say...

Being forced to visit the forum once a month to avoid my account from being suspended (and then deleted) is downright pathetic, it just doesn't make any sense at all.
Why not just force the user to visit the control panel once every 3 months or something ?

We'll restart from scratch, but of one thing I'm sure, we won't host it here and I'll make sure web masters know this host is to be avoided.

If it is so pathetic that we require that, why did you sign up in the first place? It has been part of the TOS that you agreed to during sign-up a very long time (it was even required you logged in every two weeks when I first started out here, but later changed to once every 31 days).

TOS said:
7. Inactivity

Accounts found to be inactive are suspended for a 14 day period and then terminated. All data including any type of backup or stored information is removed with the account. To prevent an account from being suspended for inactivity it is required users visit the x10Hosting forums located at http://x10hosting.com/forums at least ONCE every 31 days. Accounts must also have a working website within one week.

Pathetic?

You get a site free of charge and all you have to do is log into this Forum once every 30 days and that is too much?

Your site is so important that you can't spend 5 minutes a month to keep it active?

You didn't unsuspend your account? Too much work? If the site was so important and vital, why didn't you unsuspend it? And if the system didn't work, why didn't you post here?

'web masters' know the T.O.S. when they sign up. They are willing to do what it takes to keep their site active. You don't seem to be a 'web master'.

Yes, there is something pathetic about your situation.

Yes there is indeed something pathetic about my situation.

In case you didn't realize that by now, I didn't read the TOS because I assumed this one was a normal host.

I didn't unsuspend my account simply because I didn't know I was the one supposed to do so. I did read somewhere that I needed to log on once a month in the forum, but only after I saw that my account was suspended.
I then logged in countless times, and waited patiently wrongly assuming that the process was to be taken care of automatically and was waiting in the queue or something.

You would have known this if you at least had taken the time to read my posts before getting all butthurt because you found the word pathetic somewhere in my post.

And by the way being free isn't an excuse for such a low quality service. It's not like it's charity, the reason why it's free is because ironically there is money to be made, in this case through the paid plan.

I worked with many other hosts before, most of them free of charge and x10 hosting so far as been the worse. Problems with accessing my email, occasional downtime, very slow forum etc...
And to top this, I see my site gone to dust thanks to some cryptic account inactivity check system.

If you want an example * REMOVED * is also free, but incomparably better than this.
Follow the example instead of moaning and excusing yourselves with the "free" tag.
This host for instance ended up being more expensive than any other I had ever found, it cost me and my colleagues's entire month of work.

Also perhaps you should check your definition of webmaster. Not reading TOSes don't really mean I'm not a webmaster anymore.

Closing thread now as continued discussion is a waste of time.
You agreed to the terms of service when you signed up - should have read them and followed them.
