What software are you running on the site?

If the admin page calls curl or any function that tries to gather information from the web via port 80, it will hang because the Admins have disabled port 80. That might be the source of your problem since the main part of the site seems to work.

im really not sure what you meen

there is as far as i know no software running on the site ?

as far as im aware everything runs from within x10?

i havnt changed anything in the last 7 days

a few days ago i could log into my admin.php page to access my sitebuilder log in page

last 24 hours i havnt been able to log in!

--------------------------------------------------------

ive also a few times today had a

error page

im really getting fed up with the constant problems with x10

theres never a single week where things go smoothly

---------- Post added 11-11-2010 at 06:38 AM ---------- Previous post was 11-10-2010 at 09:14 PM ----------

i would just like to point out that im new to running a web site

so lots of technical terminology meens pretty much nothing to me

my problem is i cant log into my site builder page to edit my site

and you say this may be due to the admins dissabling port 80 ?

so what am i supposed to do then? as this is the only meens i have of editing

can i please escalate this to get it sorted as once again im chasing my own tail with

nobody fixing problems!

did the admins not think of potential problems regarding dissabling port 80?

How did you create the site? Did you use the sitebuilder? Or did you install a php script of some kind?

Yes we did think of potential problems, and we decided the benefits of getting rid of server abuse was greater, we have already added some of the commonly used php softwares to whitelist, and will continue to do so.
And that is also why descalzo was asking what software you were running, as clearly the one you use has not been added.

it just hangs and does nothing.

hence me not able to edit ?

Ok the sitebuilder problem seems to have been running a few days now and still seems to be no

further forward regarding the ability to log into the admin page that allows me to edit my website via

x10sitebuilder?

staff seem to be saying its due to the firewall not allowing outbound requsts on port 80?

which after anna expalined why it was done i thought its a great idea to stop the obvious abuse to

the x10 system.

my question is with sitebuilder being an integrated part of the x10 free set up i would have hoped

that would have been one of the first applications to be allowed and added to the firewall

exceptions. !

im desperate to get some editing done on the site and wondered if any of the kind admins would

maybe give an estimated time on this problem being corrected.

best wishes leigh a loyal supporter of x10hosting

:( Has x10 got any further forward with adding exceptions to the firewall yet?

without sitebuilder i cant carry out the basic editing of the pages and see from the forum

lots of others are having the same prolem?

could one of the admins give me an idea of how long it may take to get this problem

sorted?

ive no dought the upper admins are very busy people but this is your own software

your blocking. thanks in advance and best wishes leigh

ps sorry for the bumps on the thread

ive now asked for some info on this problem a few times now and my pleas seem to be going unanswered !

For 5 days now ive not been able to edit my site via admin.php which incidently is the normal and only way i can reach sitebuilder! which is part of the free service not something ive added.

Ive now asked for clarification from the x10 admins as to how long this is going to be before the upper admins add the sitereptile /sitebuilder/mysite bulder call it what you want to the firewalls exception list.

again i reiterate that i understand why uve blocked port 80 outbound as it stops abuse via appz like rapidleach and such like but this problem is now effecting lots of forum members who are good honest people who abide by the x10 terms of service.

im begging of you to add the exceptions to the firewall so people with this problem can get on with not only editing our sites but spreading the good word about how good the x10 hosting service actualy is ?

As you may have noticed, site builder is no longer part of the cPanel, which is likely why it was overlooked to begin with.

I have relayed the information about sitebuilder not working to our head admin, but have not heard back with a confirmation it is sorted.

We are trying to figure out what address to unblock so that the administration interface may work. It is however a bit difficult as the websites created with sitebuilder are encrypted.

Please forgive me for coming across impatient as i think the x10 admins do a great job,

im just in a state of stessis not being able to edit my web site also i dont have the

knowledge or skill to edit it any other way as i simply wouldnt know how!

i do respect that by removing peoples ability to abuse the x10 servers and its

resourses will make the whole x10 experience a faster and smoother experience for us

x10 members who love the service, and i can proudly say im one of those people who applaud corey in his efforts to give web hosting to those of us who normaly wouldnt be able to host such community based web sites such as my scout web site here in the uk !

Agaian i thank you anna/xav for your input into my problems and look forward to a speedy resolution to these problems

best wishes leigh ( a loyal x10 user)

We have contacted the developers of the app, so this should be sorted over the next few days hopefully. To my knowledge there's no workaround for this.
