Advantages of using hosting service

I've purchased web space and a new domain and I've nothing to do with it expect to install wordpress and post articles there. But Now I think what was the use to pay for those services if I can use blogger as my blogging platform. I'll get unlimited space and bandwidth and the best part is I'm not bound with plenty of rules that my hosting company has made and I've to follow it otherwise they will throw me out of there.
So I'm starting this thread so that I can know the advantages and feel that I've not wasted my money.

You have control over the files, a thing that you don't have with blogger. You can also decide to export your database and move, or change. There are many other advantages, but I am a bit too tired to get all of them right.

Blogger has rules / TOS just like x10 and just about any other company / service that allows you access to their servers.

If Blogger were to shut down, bye bye to your blog. Also, you have more control over your blog if you host it yourself. You can install new themes, plugins, decide how the URLs should look like etc

also they own the rights to your blog and if you have info on there they can use it resell it and there be nothing you could do at lest if somthing happens and you want to take all your information to some where else you would have to republish it when using a host you can take your databases and even your files to some other server
