Dear friends at x10

The last couple of times ive tried to back up my joomla site ive been on the recieving

end of high resouce usage suspensions.

the app only runs for a matter of 20 seconds but i still get the suspension notice ?

im aware that resources are prescious on a web host with so many users but surely a legitimate application like akeeba back up should be aloud to do its thing ?

ive always tried to back up my site now im in a position i dont want to back it up just in case i get banned or suspended and am not able to get my acount running again ?

i really do need a free acount as i dont get financial support for the scouting web site i run here in the uk ?

please help a loyal user of x10 !

It's bouncing above 50% cpu which is the major problem (limit's 25% for about 20-30 seconds). The problem isn't necessarily that it's being excessive so much as there's no indication of how much longer it'll be running, and some backups I've ran on my home mysql databases take 5 minutes to finish saving the data. That kind of a backup wouldn't fly on free hosting where it really limits the amount of CPU remaining for everyone else, especially if one or two others were to do the same - the server would essentially go to half or 1/4 power remaining for every normal webpage.

About all I can advise right now, since it's going over the limit for what Prime would use as well, would be to do manual backups via phpmyadmin, and don't do the entire database at once - do it in chunks so each individual backup doesn't hit the resource cap.

many thanks for your response livewire
i will look into what youve said further and also to add to that ive been in touch with the akeeba creator and hes given me certain settings to try to combat the high resource usage triggering the suspensions.
i will try it again in a few days and if it triggers a suspension im going to have to look at backing up my databases manualy !
thanks again buddy its much appreciated for your input !

After changing some of the akeeba back up settings im still in the same sittuation as before
again triggering a suspension this morning.
this is now very frustrating that a legitimate program cant do what its designed to do due to needing a little bit more of the resourses for those extra couple of seconds?
my question is can someone tell me how to back up my joomla site including any databases

I have sent you the log of the suspension, the script is running for a minute before the suspension is imposed. If you can make it complete in 10-20 seconds you should be fine. One minute of non stop sustained CPU usage generally equals a suspension. Remember you're sharing a server with thousands of users.

Hi ya corey
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions and do totaly understand that the resourses have to be shared here on x10 .
After speaking to nicholas the creator of akeeba yesterday he says i have the option of excluding certain directories from the back up , the biggest being the image folder which has lots of scout photos for the site!
Unfortunatly i can test the changes as im getting unix errors when trying to back up via akeeba .

What errors would that be? Knowing the error would make it easier to look at and solve.

hi there anna
i was trying to execute the back up via my apple ipad and for some reason it kept failing
i then used my laptop to execute the back up and it worked fine? not really sure what happened there?

Also after ommiting some of the large directories the akeeba back up program executed fine although very slow due to the settings within the program .

just for clarification how many more suspensions am i allowed before i ave to have it unsuspended by admin?

ps thanks corey for the logs ! am not really sure what they are saying but looking at them they look quite intense to say the least ?

At this time you can unsuspend yourself indefinitely without admin intervention
