Please give me feedback:
http://qs.x10.bz/

It is for a community orchestra - Although it is incomplete as a website (none of the other pages are up), it is pretty much complete as a web page in terms of design/code.

Note: I started off using HTML5 and some CSS3, but quickly realised support for HTML5 is quite pathetic, and highly inconsistent across browsers. The site probably works best in Firefox 5.

Any suggestions, criticisms, problems, etc. with any aspect of the website is appreciated.

And please do not copy anything, as this is my own, original layout/design/images.

De gustibus non est disputandum of course, but I'm left a little flat by the colour of the call-out boxes -- I'd use something a bit more saturated, probably from somewhere closer to "Support" than "Community" (in the "Community & Support" menu item) from the background image. Again, that's just a matter of taste.

Good layout especially the splash of colour and presents rich oppurtunites for relvevent, interesting and above all unique content, though esslar does make a good point about the box colour looking a little off but each designer has their own flavour and style so ultimately the choice of colour scheme is yours or that of the client. This link may help if you are still undecided about the colour scheme http://colorschemedesigner.com/

I presume the object of the site is to get more 'gigs' for the orchestra either in whole or part (eg: string quartets) so plenty of scope for video / mp3 snippets, member profiles and potential backlink opputunities with related business such as music stores, tranportation (because moving all that kit is never going to easy) and especially those business specialising in event managment.

Hopefully they sound a little better than this local orchestra..

Thanks for the replies,

I actually did use the color scheme designer (#b00). And the orchestra did not give me any idea of a color so it was up to me (the only requirement was "not too dark").

I think I agree about using a more saturated colour, so I'll probably change that soon.
