As said on various posts, the issue with the server load and apache seems to be abuse/dead accounts (http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/67779-few-problems-stoli.html#post386042).
When I first joined x10hosting, I was blown away. This was my first shot at a hosting site anything like this and I was blown away with the server stability, incredible service (<3 Chris73), and recommended the sight to 2 mates that were also hunting about for hosting. At this time I was on Vox... Vox was heaven.
When Vox... bit the dust? and we were moved to Stoli, my confidence to recommend the service became hesitant at best. Chris73 claims in in the post in the first paragraph, "When Apache goes offline it's for less than 30 seconds for 99% of the time." I intend no offense and apologies for putting you on the spot, but Apache must reset somewhere near 300 times a day and I have miserable luck to explain the amount that I have failed loads on my page (multiple attempts not being resolved within 2 minutes time, no spamming F5).
At this point, my users are turning to me and asking me what they or I can do to resolve the issue. The point has already been passed where people have given up using the forums on my site due to apache being down and thus my site when they submit their posts let alone browsing in general.
I can understand how frustrating it is on your end to have us over here commenting on a free service the you provide, but it's to the point (at least for my users) that the site is not worth the time to check regularly as the odds are too high to burn the time on.
Do we have any kind of a time-frame as to when the issue(s) could be resolved or at least the effects lessened? I'm sure it's on the to-do list, I'm just curious if it is near enough in the future for it to be worth the frustration of my visitors to continue hoping that the site still loads each time they click.
Again, no offense to the team intended though I'm relatively sure that I hit a spot somewhere. When we were on Vox, x10hosting was above and beyond every expectation I could have imagined for a hosting service. Maybe Stoli will surprise me tomorrow and no longer have issues like this, but the condition it is in now makes me reverie of Vox to avoid the reality of Stoli.
Ken.
