Make sure you have set the NS record set to:
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

https://www.whatsmydns.net/
Go to that website, type in your domain and select NS in the drop-down box. Most of the servers must have a tick next to them for it to work.
It can take up to 72 hours until all the servers update and you can set it on cPanel, due to the time it takes for the NS records to propagate to the servers around the world.

This should be resolved now. You can now add the domain.

I have a similar problem but not entirely the same.
My addon domain works, but unless I specifically type in /index.html etc, the addon domain always goes to /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
How do I get it to just behave normal?

You most likely have that default page stuck in your browser cache.

Clear your browser cache and history. Close browser. Open browser. Check site. (and it helps us if, when you have a problem with addon/parked domains, that you mention the domain. The system I use to check you account isn't always up to date).
