The other day I created a post about having my website put back online because nobody could access it. That problem is fixed now and I really appreciate that, thanks. :D However, I cannot access my FTP server. I use FileZilla and when it connects, it submits my username fine; but when it submits my password it says "Login authentication failed." It's the same password I've always used. And under my Hosting Account Summary page, the hosting server still says "getupdated". The disk space and bandwidth usage charts on the right both say 0MB used. And when I click login to cPanel, it cannot access the login page and the address in the address bar is https://getupdated.x10hosting.com:2083/login/.

I don't know if all of this is related or not but the status under my Hosting Account Management page says Suspended. When I click View, the only reason that's listed is "User transferred to another server" and this problem was resolved almost 2 months ago.

So as you can see my account seems pretty messed up for some reason. I realize that you are still taking care of problems and things from moving accounts over to new servers, but if you could take a look at my account just whenever possible I would really appreciate it. x10hosting is great!

Hello,

Your account panel should now show the correct data, there was a sync ran earlier today. I have unsuspended the account (although technically it was not suspended, it was just the account panel not showing correct information).

During the migrations it has been common that passwords have been messed up, reseting it through the account panel will sort that. Password being messed up is likely why you fail on logging into ftp as well.

Thanks for your reply. My hosting account management page now shows the server name as starka, thanks. I reset my password there and I still can't get into my FTP or cPanel. My account is suspended again by livewire who says there is some software on my site that violates microsoft's copyright. I don't agree with that, but it's no problem, I'll remove it. However I can't remove it until I can connect to my FTP server. Thanks for your help in resolving this!

I doublechecked with higher-ups before suspending it permanently for violating the TOS by bypassing Microsoft Vista's activation system - the method you were using is -not- legal to use. Evidence of this isn't hard to find - it's the same system the pirates were distributing with all their releases as well.

The applicable discussion is below; I only left the names of the actual staff involved.

[23:03:35] <%Livewire> is it legal to bypass the Microsoft Activation sytsem for Vista?
[23:03:41] <+********> i doubt it
[23:03:44] <%********> nope
[23:03:44] <%Livewire> Auto Vista Activator (AVA) allows you to use a legal alternate method to activate Windows Vista. It does so without going through Microsoft. It achieves this by invoking a third party tool called the OEM BIOS Emulation Driver (OEMBED) which carries out part of this alternate activation process. The rest must be done via the command line, which would be very daunting without AVA. AVA just simply invokes the OEMBED and then executes the command line operations automatically, saving you the hassle of having to input all of them yourself.
[23:03:50] <%Livewire> just confirming cause he's saying it is legal
[23:03:53] <%Livewire> I don't see how. :p
[23:04:31] <@Hellsheep> Nope
[23:04:34] <@Hellsheep> Not legit

I'll remove it once I'm unsuspended and I can login to the FTP server. Thanks for letting me know about it.

If your Account is suspended for a reason that is listed in zero-tolerance policy then your account will not be unsuspended. It will be terminated after 14 days and you will not get your data back.

The list of suspensions that are included in zero-tolerance policy.
◦ Nulled scripts
◦ Warez
◦ Copyright Infringement
◦ Phishing sites
◦ Severe misuse of server resources (Proxies, Rapidleech, TorrentFlux, etc.)
◦ Malware and all other malicious files
◦ Pornographic material, erotic images, and all other adult content
◦ Unsupported language (any language except English, Spanish, & French without a translation)

I had no idea it was against Microsoft's rules though. I even checked on it myself before uploading. That hardly seems fair. Maybe x10hosting isn't as good as I thought after all. If I find that it's not against the rules and somebody says it is, the file gets removed and you have no more problems from me. Removing my account is unnecessary.

According to our zero tolerance policy, it is necessary for your account to be terminated. This is the whole reason why we put this policy in place.
Hosting instructions on how to active Windows Vista without purchasing anything is definitely illegal.

It doesn't cost anything to activate Vista anyway. Anytime you change hardware in your system you have to let microsoft know about it through reactivation. Why should they have to know what people do with their systems. It was meant for people who don't like for microsoft to know anytime they change hardware in their systems. And besides, all it employs is Microsoft's own API. Nothing is hacked. Nothing illegal was intended. But I'm sure that doesn't make any difference. You can still have a zero tolerance policy but atleast give people a second chance. Tell them to take the file off or their account will be removed. Removing their account on the first offense is ridiculous. Imagine uploading a file you didn't know was illegal, and then someone telling you it was, and then they remove your account requiring you to start over, without the slightest chance to make anything right. You would think that was wrong. I didn't think it was illegal, if I did I wouldn't have posted it. If I was given a second chance the file would have been removed.

Reactivating Vista could be used by people installing it for the first time illegally.
You have violated our Terms of Service which you agreed to abide by when registering. The zero tolerance policy explains what happens when you break the Terms of Service. Unfortunately, you will not be able to access your files again and no backups will be allowed. There are no exceptions to this.

So I get punished for what people *could* do with my program. Nice. I didn't blatantly violate the TOS on purpose, it was an accident because I didn't think the file violated anything. I'm not one to violate rules on purpose. Oh well.

Accident or not, it still violates our ToS. I'm sorry that your account has to be deleted but that is procedure.

Yeah well it's a shame when procedure doesn't allow second chances or warnings.
