Cannot log into phpMyAdmin

Trying to access phpMyAdmin from cPanel fails and shows a message "cPanel was unable to successfully log you in to phpMyAdmin. If you are having issues logging in to phpMyAdmin, please submit a support ticket." Manually logging in on the phpMyAdmin page does not work using my cPanel credentials.
