Hi all. Been reading through so many threads and help resources and I have tried what I believe is correct but not really sure.

I have a custom domain (budgetpresents.co.uk) which I would like to forward to my host domain (budgetpresentsuk.x10.mx). I did have it set-up on the registrar side with a framed web forward so that it displays the budgetpresents.co.uk domain in the address bar instead of the .x10.mx, however in order for me to make changes to my website I need to remove the framed web forward.

I have changed the name servers on the registrar to point to the x10 ones and added the budgetpresents.co.uk to the parked domains on x10, but after adding it to that under the "redirects to" it says not directed? Do I need to change that?

Another issue is to access my actual site you have to go to budgetpresentsuk.x10.mx/store so I would need to specify the "/store" somewhere but not entirely sure where or if I need to do that.

I apologise for so many questions, which all may seem very simple or random but I have been up for god knows how many hours trying to sort this and many other problems.

Many thanks in advance..

Connor

Just in case I over explained it...

I have solved the issue about the "/store". All I need to know at the moment, is when you type in budgetpresents.co.uk why does it still display budgetpresents.x10.mx/store in the address bar instead of the custom domain (budetpresents.co.uk).

Kind regards.

You might want to look into the configuration of your script. Many scripts does an automatic rewrite to show the domain it is configured to use.

I must be becoming a pain now.. hehe.. What script are you referring to? Where would I find this and what would I need to change specifically?

Sorry to bother you and everyone, but I am at such a loose end and seem to be going around in circles.

Kind regards.

What did you use to create your store? That is the "script". Most such scripts have an administrative area where the owner can sign in and update/change things.
Usually there is a setting for "Site URL"

I'm using Magento if that helps, I have read how to disable the automatic rewrite, but would that solve the issue and display the custom domain instead of the host domain?

Kind regards.

The web server rewrites was set to no anyway. There is a "Base URL" option where the host domain is displayed. Would I be able to change that to the custom domain? Or would that mess everything up..? Really wish there was a simple fix for this.. hehe.

Kind regards.

If that currently is set to the x10 domain, I'd say that is the option you do want to change in order to get the custom domain to show.

Hmm.. Seems to have broken everything now.. Some things should really be a lot more simple.. Thank you for your help anyway, not really sure what to do right now.

Kind regards.

I'd guess you set it to the custom domain without the /store? If so was it set with that when it had the x10 domain?
There is one way I know of to revert those changes, but that would likely involve editing the database directly using phpMyAdmin. It is possible that there's additional options if you check with the Magento support, as they would be the ones that are experts on their own script.

While we do not officially support third party scripts (we're obviously not experts on them all), we try to help out as best we can though.

Hi again. I did change the base URL to have the /store, but it completely destroyed the site and admin panel. I was able to revert the changes by removing the cache folders/files in the phpmyadmin on x10.

So now that is fixed, I am still stuck with the domain issue (still displaying the host domain instead of the custom domain).

Any more ideas? hehe.

Kind regards.

I have never personally used Magento, so no I don't have any ideas, as I would not know what they call their variables in settings, but somewhere there *should* be an option to changed domain. You might have better luck if Magento have their own support though.
It could be a variable in their config/settings.php (or what they chose to call it) that controls domain, but again, I have never used that script so that would only be guesses.
