connecting with FTP issues

It is about a week that working with ftp ( moving files / deleting / uploading ) was made difficult...it usually works fine for a tiny while then plagued for long period of time.... strangelly this happens anytime of the day or night ( GTM/ i am in the UK) at work and at home.
log looks like that:

frustrating as you can imagine!!! Is that anything to do with data allowance/quota as I am on a free account (at the moment)??

Hello,

That would not be related to disk quota. It simply means the server didn't answer to the ftp client in a timely manner, likely due to load being above normal.

Is there still any problems connecting to the ftp? We have implemented some changes a few days ago to combat abuse, so load should stay within normal levels now.
