I feel really stupid for asking since I've created one before, but I can't fully create a new subdomain and have it work. It's probably some tiny little step that I'm missing and I'm going to feel really silly once I find out what that step is.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, so as I said above I already have 1 subdomain and I cannot remember what I did to do it. I mean, I know to go to where it says "subdomains" on cpanel and when I create the new subdomain, it creates itself just fine (meaning no error messages).

I then went to create the addon domain (I have one for the other subdomain I already have, so figured I need to do that again as well), but when I try and create it I get the message "sorry, you are not allowed to park common domains" and the addon domain is not created. I am not sure what this means. It also states an ftp account was created for the addon domain. Not sure if that is important, but want to mention it just in case.

This is how I'm entering the info

And this is what I get when I click create

When I try and go to http://foodparade.elementfx.com I end up at https://www.x10hosting.com/domain-does-not-exist.

So what am I missing or doing wrong?

Hello Julie,
You don't need to create an Add On domain while creating a subdomain.
The first thing you should check is whether or not you have exceeded your maximum allowed subdomains limit.

In you cPanel, left hand side, check whether you have reached your maximum allowed limit or not. The above image shows that I am only allowed to create 2 subdomains and I have already used them so I am not allowed to create any more. If You have also reached your maximum allowed limit then unfortunately you won't be able to create a new subdomain.
But if you have not reached your maximum allowed limit then
Go to Subdomain, fill the box which says "subdomain" and then click "create".
Remember, don't fill the entire subdomain in that box. For example, if you have a domain called "example.com" and if you want to create a subdomain "julie.example.com" then just enter "julie" in the box and select "example.com" from the drop down box.

At the moment you won't be able to create any more sub domains, your account is already using the full amount of subdomains available in a free account (2 of them).

Each addon domain does require a subdomain, which means that since you are using 2 subdomains already, it is not possible to utilize the last addon domain on your account. In order to be able to add a second addon domain you would need to remove the subdomain that is NOT used with the other addon domain (foodparade.julie.elementfx.com).

You can increase the available subdomains by upgrading to Prime, you can see more about that at: https://www.x10hosting.com/sso/upgrade (do believe you need to be logged into your account to view the page)

As I said in my post, I was able to create the new subdomain that I wanted to. That's shown in the first picture I posted. But I cannot access that website. And I forgot to mention this, but I want the subdomain to point somewhere else. The subdomain I created was http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com/ and I want it to point to http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com/.
You created http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com/ then it will of course point to itself by default.

Sorry, I don't think I worded it right before. But when I go to http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com I get this error message on Chrome? And Firefox basically gives me the same message.
"Oops! Google Chrome could not find foodparade.julie.elementfx.com
Did you mean: elementfx.com"

I've tried doing the redirect thing also for me to be able to enter http://foodparade.elementfx.com/ (instead of http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com/) and end
up at https://www.x10hosting.com/domain-does-not-exist.

Can you please do one test for me? Can you delete you subdomain http://foodparade.julie.elementfx.com
and then check if you have/have not reached your maximum allowed limit? If you have not reached your limit then try to create an addon domain (not subdomain). If you have time to do this little test then can you do it?
When staffs with higher privilege who have access to your account will come online then then might be able to look into your problem much better than me, but till then I am only able to ask you to do this little test.

I deleted the subdomain and I now have 1/2 subdomains used.

I went and tried to create an addon domain and entered my info like this
subdomain_help03_zpse078eff0.jpg

and when I clicked "add domain", I got this
subdomain_help06_zps22b39b7b.jpg

Am I not entering something correctly for the addon information?

I think that between that you added the first elementfx.com domain as an addon there has been changes made to the setup so that you can't add subdomains of it through cPanel anymore.
Probably this was done for security as technically, say you have domain.elementfx.com as your domain, that would have allowed another user to add mydomain.domain.elementfx.com as theirs if we allowed adding common domains as addons (or parked for that matter).
The option, if you want a separate domain, is to acquire a new domain from a third party (free or paid) domain registrar and then add that as an addon domain.

But if I wasn't allowed to do this, why would the option be there? If I got a new domain from a third party, like from another free site, would I be able to add it on to my account here at x10 as an addon domain and redirect it the url to be http://foodparade.elementfx.com? I have not tried doing something like that before, so I am not sure exactly how it works.

You would not be able to redirect it to that url since the url would not exist.
You can add an addon domain, just not create a new, currently non existing one with the addon domain option (as would be the case with the element.fx domain you tried to add), if you for instance would go and create a .tk domain, and configure it for use with us, it would add just fine.

Hi Anna, With the Holidays and all I forgot to reply. I'm not sure what you mean by creating a .tk domain and then configuring it with you (X10). Is there someplace I can get better instructions on that? Thanks.
