This is what the zen-cart staff told me,
Pretty simple:
www.zen-cart.com
If they have any clue what they're doing, they'll be able to figure out the IP from that.
You'll only need it during installation. It'll never be required again after that unless using a troubleshooting/diagnostic tool.
Keep in mind that the *reason* CURL is being tested is because you'll need it to talk to external services like payment gateways, shipping companies, currency banks, etc. If your hosting company requires you to individually authorize each IP, make sure you plan well in advance if you intend to actually process transactions. And make sure they're not going to limit you by the number of addresses you can access. Also be aware that your store could be shut down by a simple mistake they make when authorizing someone *else*'s IP for another reason. So, if communications (esp for payment transactions) suddenly breaks for some reason, be sure to contact your level 2 tech first.
I said,
ok thanks and i assume by them knowing what there doing then you mean its as easy as pinging this website and getting a result such as 174.36.207.130, correct?
They said,
There are numerous ways to look up an IP from a URL. They can decide what's best for exactly what they need for their specific firewall use.
