I deleted my public_html's .htaccess by mistake and am now getting 500 errors when I try to use subdomains. Could someone please tell me how to get a new one?

Thanks!

Hi crafted2,

I commented out one of the lines in your new .htaccess file, and your site is now working. :)

Thank you,

Hi crafted2,

Thank you, Dead-i. I added that line due to an issue I was having with my Vanilla forum software installation. When I would go to a page on the forum, the URL would show up as site.host.com/home/crafted3/public_html/... adding the "RewriteBase /community" line fixed that issue, but must have caused the 500 error when viewing the page via the subdomain.

I made a post on the Vanilla support forums and adding that line was the solution I got.

Any ideas? I just need the .../home/crafted3/public_html/... part removed from the URLs.

Hi crafted2,

If you are intending on running your Vanilla installation purely on a subdomain, it may be best to use a RewriteBase of / rather than /community to get around this issue. I've switched out the commented line for "RewriteBase /", and it looks like that path is no longer appearing. :)

Thank you,

It appears to be working! Thanks!
However when I visit site.host.com/community I get 404 errors, guess that doesn't really matter though.
