Well yea i guess that is exaggerating there probably wont be WW3 But this is definitely a depression the way people look at it.

We were already in a depresion since the beginning of this year. This was not because of only Bush's fault, but the fault of all Americans being irresponsible and inflation. All most of us know what to do when something goes wrong is blame the government, but it's not their fault. It's everyone to blame, but I believe if Obama really can do what he says, he'll be a great president.

But he can't do what he says.

Besides, what's so good about taking from the rich to give to the poor?
That's socialism.

His idealogies are somewhat strikingly saying "I will do something better"

You do realize that he's not in office yet right? Everyone's hero George W. Bush is still running the show. Even once he's in office I'd venture to guess that your opinion wont change either even if he does do good.

If you gave him a chance to shine he might do something. I mean he can't just stop a financial crisis by clicking his fingers! Anyway I voted yes because he seems more positive than Bush but not over-positive.

Yes, I realize that he has not been inaugerated yet, but he has had other positions of power in his life. He was a senator. He didn't do anything then. Why do you expect him to do anything now?

I voted for McCain, yet I now support Obama. His cabinet picks give the impression that he will be govern as a centrist. I don't agree with his trillion dollar stimulus package. But I didn't agree with W's banking bailout either. He has inherited a difficult position, both at home and globally.

I am optimistic that he will be a good president. Yet, as was said earlier, he has no history of change, his track record is rather unimpressive. The fact that he rose to power in Illinois, and never spoke out against the wanton corruption in the Illinois machine, leaves me to believe he will not be a great agent of change. The simple fact that he got in bed with William Ayers, shows he is ideologically challenged.

It's too early to tell. There's already so much messed up, though, that he's already at a huge disadvantage. Also, people already have extremely high expectations for him, which could either be good or bad. It's also a matter of how well things get prioritized, communicated, and completed. I have the tendency to be fairly pessimistic about politicians in general, as people can say whatever they want, so we'll see, heh. I do hope that Obama does well, though.

I think the guy is humble, that's the first thing you got to have when you are in a very important position.
Also, he's not superman or something like that, so I think it's impossible to fix all the problems that the nation is going through, but I think he can do at least something about it, but we have to be realistic too. He has limited power, so even though he may have all the good intentions in the world, the senate and the house have also power, so lets see what happen in the first two years, and then we will know what to expect from the other two, or even reelection.

But, many of the things he says he is going to accomplish during his presidency come straight from communist Russia. I don't think most of us here want the U.S. to become like Russia do we?:eek4:

I don't remember if I actually post it, or if I was dreaming about it, but I remember I posted something about the punishment for succes....
Well, anyways, that's one thing I don't like about him, the punishment for success, you can't punish the people that made their way to wealth with hard and the people who create the jobs work giving them higher taxes, and lowering the taxes for the poor, I think that's not fair.

Absolutely not. His very strict anti-gun policies are the first thing that tipped me off in the negative direction, but his recent actions with Gitmo have soured the deal even further in my mind. It seems to me like he's rushing in with all these grand dreams and immediately wants to take extreme action (closing Gitmo, etc.), yet he also doesn't seem to understand the repercussions of these actions.

To me, it seems like one of the things he was criticized for most during the campaign, that is his lack of experience, is starting to show itself in a very negative way.
