Does anyone else think SSBB is kind of lame

Don't get me wrong, I love the game and it's pretty much the only reason why I bought the Wii. But I feel like they really cheaped out on this one. Yeah the graphics are a little better, and there are a few new characters, but for the most part its almost the exact same Melee. Brawl is no where near the upgrade level that melee brought from the original super smash bros. I just think they focused on improving all the wrong things this time. Like the single player stuff. Smash bross is the multiplayer game. Very few people get the game to play target practice and go through levels, those are just a kind of cool way to earn new characters. All I'm saying is, Brawl seems more like a melee expansion pack than the next game in the series. I would have liked to have seen tougher computers, and more than 4 player multiplayer (to get some 4 vs 4 ai battles), and for god sakes some better levels. Those things just give me a headache. What really would've been nice though is if they had found a way to squeeze in another smash attack for every character, like melee did with forward B. And why on earth is their absolutely no use of the wii remote. That could've been really cool.

If you love smash bros, its worth getting, but you can probably save yourself a lot of money by getting melee instead. There aint a whole lot of difference.

I could kinda notice SSBB was losing popularity because of the enormous stockpiles at my nearest game store.

I asked the store manager why the game wasn't sold out and he said the game was so unpopular. Many people were expecting this game to be somewhere near popular as Halo 3, but in the US and other countries it seemed a failure.

I think one way Nintendo could improve this game is enable online play, or what you suggested 4 player vs 4 ai, to make it more interesting. The only interesting thing about this game is that it incorporates everyone's favorite game chracaters and puts it into one. That's the only good part of it x[

I knew this wouldn't be as popular as many of the 360 or PS3 titles, but I find it an enjoyable game. I still do prefer the levels given in Melee (less background crap to interfere with your fighting!)

Temple was the best!

Anyway, my only beef with the game are those special orb things that make you do those super attacks. Cool visually, but it's just too rigged. I didn't check but hopefully it can be disabled, as my roommates and I played Melee with no items whatsoever to ensure a fair fight.

Yeah, at Wal-Mart they have a huge display case full of SSBB games, and it hadn't looked like they have sold many

Which is pretty sad for a game that had gotten lots of hype.

well, I must say that its a good game, but I am dissapointed in it. I liked how in the other games you had to unlock all the characters by doing special things but in this game, all but 3 characters are unlocked in the story mode. Plus, you start out with way too many characters.

Man I think you guys are crazy. I love SSBB, it's already sucked a huge amount of time out of my life. I personally hated Melee, and after buying it my friends and I went back to the original SSB. I think that they fixed everything that turned me off Melee and I love the (Co-op!) Spaceship Emissary mode of play. Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised that you guys don't love it. Maybe its just that because the game was hyped so much that when you played it it couldn't live up to your expectations (That happened to me with the Da Vinci Code).

Yeah, part of the disappointment is obviously the fact that it was hyped so much, but we've been waiting for this game for about half a decade. I would've been much happier if it had come out 4 years ago.

And I totally agree with who ever said the characters were way too easy to get. They really dimmed this version down: A case that seems to occur more and more often with nintendo and they slowly shift to a todler's console.

I agree that the characters were easy to get, but in a way that made it more fun because it let you quickly unlock the characters so that you could get to the chase and use them to beat the crap out of your friends in normal brawl. My friends who don't have a wii were anticipating Brawl's release as much as I was, and when I got it we all got together and started playing right away. For my friend who wanted so desperately to be Snake, it was nice to be able to unlock him in about an hour from opening the package instead of trying for 10 hours to beat the game in extra hard with 1 life with Olimar or some other ridiculous requirement.

Plus it makes sense that Nintendo is aiming it's console at younger kids - the XBox and PS3 already are fighting for dominance of the adult gaming market and they would get slaughtered if they entered the ring.

I will admit that it could of been a lot better. Adding in a Stage Builder and the WiFi brawls is nice. The SSE is a nice touch. The AI could of been a lot better. A level 9 seems like Melee's level 6 AI. The stages could of been better, but you do have the ability to create your own.

Personally, I find many pros to this game as I do cons. Now, lets just hope that Mario Kart is better than it's N64/GCN counterpart

I haven't played it yet, don't actually own a Wii yet for that matter, but I was considering buying one just so I could play SSBB (along w/ Twilight Princess, Metroid, and Mario Cart). Hearing so many people call it a letdown is a bit disapointing, but the big question I have is whether, all negative opinion aside, it's still worth buying. The game I mean, I'm still set on getting the system.
