I'm installing a script on my account, and it says the following are required.

Server Requirements

  • Server Running Linux
  • Apache Web Server (Mod_Rewrite enabled)
  • MySQL (Version 4.x or higher)
  • PHP (Version 4.3 or higher)
  • GD Library 2
  • cURL Enabled
  • Latest IonCube loaders
  • .htaccess and URL rewrites enabled
I assumed x10 had all these, but the script won't work. The install file just shows up as a blank page, even when I've followed all the instructions perfectly. So is the server compatible?

Look in the error log found in cPanel and post and blacklisted php function errors.

I don't think I know what you mean. OK I looked in the Error Log, but what else?

If there are errors inside the error log, please post them here.

[Sat Sep 20 21:22:56 2008] [error] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] ALERT - function within blacklist called: dl() (attacker 'xx.xx.xx.xx', file '/home/gwame/public_html/media/install/index.php', line 2)

We do not support dl on any of our services, and most hosting also will have this disabled. DL alows dynamic loading of modules which is a huge security risk.

Dynamic loading of modules? What does that mean? I'm just trying to get a media script working, but neither of the two I've tried have worked. Any recommendations for free ones?

It means you are loading extensions into PHP which can cause huge security risks.
By media scripts, are you talking about photo galleries, video galleries, etc.

I'm talking about video and music scripts, kinda like YouTube, but with mp3 support. I want users to be able to upload their own videos and mp3s (not illegal ones, just ones they made themselves).

Last time I checked, we didn't allow YouTube clones because of the sheer amount of resources they use...I'll check with an administrator.

I'm not making a YouTube clone. I run a hip hop forum/site and we allow members to post their own tracks - that's it. It won't huge up a large amount of resources. Besides, assuming resources = disk space and bandwidth, there shouldn't be a problem. I can use the allocation I was assigned, right? If I use more than that, I should be given a warning.

If you go over your quota of bandiwdth all visitors to your site get a error bandwidth exceeded page.
The resources tnl2k7 was referring to are CPU and RAM usage.
If your account is found to be using allot of these then it will be suspended. In extreme cases it may be terminated.

Ok well that shouldn't happen anyway. There wouldn't be many files, and each would only be a few megabytes. Do you know any scripts that are supported here?
