Domain Transfer for Free ?

I got one of those free domains from Register.com 9 months ago.
It is up for renewal in may.
I do not want to pay for a renewal at register.com
Is there a way to transfer that domain name to some sort of free
Register service so that i can keep it ?

I do not just want to link it to me x10hosting service with name servers
I want to transfer the domain name it self.
Is there a way to do this for free ?

No, You can`t do this free.

No you have to transfer it to another domain registrar, and then you need to pay the transfer, but this usually adds an extra year to the expiration date
