I've been having a number of issues with my free hosting account's email for about 3 months now.

I used to be able to log in with any client and use my email just fine. Everything was peachy keen until a few months ago. It started with me being unable to log into the secure web server on any email client (Thunderbird, Claws Mail, etc.). Security wasn't a massive concern for me, so I used the unprotected server. I was able to log in and receive emails, but I was unable to send any emails from almost every client I tried. The email client would pop up a dialog saying that it was connecting to my email server, but then nothing would happen until the email client (after taking it's sweet time) decided to give up trying to reach the server.

This has happened on Thunderbird, Claws Mail and Evolution, but oddly enough, there has been one client that has made it through; Blue Mail on Android. I'm not sure why Blue Mail is the only client able to contact the server, but that seems to be the case here.

I'm not sure where to begin with fixing this. Is anybody else having this issue? Anybody know what's going wrong or how to fix it? Thanks.

Hi benhigh,

In Thunderbird, please go to "Options" then "Account Settings". From there, please select "Server Settings" on the left, and verify that your "User Name" is set to your full email address, port 993 is specified, "Connection Security" is set to "SSL/TLS", and "Authentication Method" is set to "Normal password". Then, please select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" on the left, and choose "Edit". Please ensure that the port is 465, "Connection security" is set to "SSL/TLS", and "Authentication Method" is set to "Normal Password". ;)

Thank you,
