Hello

My website was all fine and working till I came onto it today and received this message in chrome. I've made no edits in cpanel or anything to have caused this.

This webpage is not available

ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED

My website is at: dualspot.com
It's an addon domain. And it's been working fine for a month. I always seem to run into problems randomly with x10hosting, very off putting when you are considering premium packages.

Please help!

My favorite tool for debugging DNS issues:
http://www.intodns.com/dualspot.com

Looks like you setup dualspot.com to have the same IP as x10hosting.com, then set an ns1.dualspot.com and ns2.dualspot.com

That's self-defeating. The whole point of the domain name system is so that a url is not tied to a particular IP or hardware, allowing you to move the site, hardware, and IP, wherever you like. With it set up the way you have done, it will only work until x10hosting updates their NS, changes IPs around, makes any other changes to the organization of the hosting environment. Which is probably what hapened.

If you REALLY want to alias the nameservers that way:
  • You'll need your own static IP as the A record for dualspot.com
  • Set CNAME records NS1 and NS2 to forward to x10hosting.
    • If done this way, you'll never run into config changes losing the connection.
    • However, SSL can be a pain in some browsers.
