I had this problem this morning. Come back 8-10 hours later, still the same problem (not very intermittent IMO). Lots of good "uptime" does when someone is met with a 503 error when loading pages.

Edit: now it's 12hr since experiencing the "intermittant" issue this morning and it's STILL giving me 503 errors on almost every other page load.

Few more hours go by and I have seen this error tons of more times. I thought you said it was an "intermittent" problem? You see how I test the customer service waters with free hosting?

Sorry, but it's NOT an intermittent problem. It's a constant one rending the servers USELESS if one expect to get anything administrative done on their site. Don't sit there, claim you have good customer service and try to blow smoke up my behind and say "Sorry, problem is intermittent".... when it's a constant one.

I don't think you've used many free hosting services, most won't allow anything negative to be said, and you'd be lucky if you got an answer from anyone regarding any issue you have. Making threats to leave and insulting us is not going to get you help any faster. If you keep up the insults your privileges to participate in the forum will be revoked. I'm happy to listen to constructive criticism, insults and threats help no one and have no place here.

We're aware of the issue and we are working on it. Out of all the requests coming into each server only about 2% of the requests are receiving the 503 error, obviously some people get it more frequently so it seems like a bigger issue to them specifically. Changing anything on the free hosting servers is a very delicate process and can take hours to propagate across all the accounts. We've been gathering data and implementing changes, sometimes it fixes the issue for some people then causes it for others. Each small change we make takes hours to go into production not including the time it takes to gather data and decide on a new course of action. We have a very unique setup which means we can't just Google the issue and find an answer, it takes time, testing, and patience. One major factor is Litespeed, we are working on dropping it completely as I write this along with implementing a couple other changes at the same time. We're hoping this will resolve the majority of the 503s people are receiving, but again... this takes hours to do and we won't know if it fixes it until it's in. So bear with us, things will be back to normal soon.

Tell your customer service personnel to be honest with people and people won't get upset with the service they do get.

Bottom line it is NOT an intermittent problem, it's a constant one and customers paid or free deserve to be told HONESTLY what is going on. "Intermittent" tells me site is usable and only a few errors here and there will be experienced and can be used. Constant tells me, don't bother using the site and wasting your time.

"most won't allow anything negative to be said".... nice way to turn customer service political... I'll take that as "we will censor you and only let you say what we like"....

Ever hear "the customer is always right".... another customer service failure IMO...... that's strike two. Keep going and by the end of the week, I'll be migrating my website instead of becoming a paid customer. Thus far, I've been very happy with your service, not so much after this particular issue.

I'm not sure how they're not being honest, for your convenience I'll paste below the definition of intermittent... which is exactly what the issue is:
in·ter·mit·tent
ˌin(t)ərˈmitnt/
adjective
  1. occurring at irregular intervals; not continuous or steady.

Most people are intermittently experiencing the issue, if at all. A small handful of people are experiencing it frequently enough to cause issues while working with their site. When we make an announcement saying the issue is intermittent it is directed at our whole user base and is accurate, and honest.

With that said, you don't seem to want to have a civil conversation and are continuing to make threats. I'm giving you a temporary ban for two days so you can cool off. If you decide to come back after the ban is off I would suggest keeping your comments constructive and the insults to yourself.

Dropped one SQL databasse to check if it helps, but doesn't seem so. Problem is still there.
No other stat shows as be on max.

Computers just do what you tell them to do. The problem is to know what you tell them to do...

I doubt dropping or changing things on phpMyAdmin or just executing SQL queries would help. This issue is to do with the web server itself. I'm not sure if MySQL connection and queries on a webpage would slow it down even more that it would throw the error more often because of the result fetching.

From what was said from @leafypiggy and @Corey, it sounds overly fair and makes perfect sense.
It's an unfortunate that people just keep on insulting something which is free, contains many goodies, great support, really helpful forums and much more. There are bound to be some issues here and there but what is being offered here is just insanely great.

Do you see other free hosts offering all the goodies WITHOUT ads? From what I've seen, no. It already feels premium. This is just so good that it is just worth paying for (unfortuantly my payment method only works with UK merchants).
Who can complain about all of this? Who?

Personally, I think that even with the error hanging around it is very understandable and I already know that it takes a lot of time to even test something really minor.

The staff in free hosting have been more than great at helping out and sorting out issues.

Saying that, I say that X10 is the only best free webhost you could find with a great team and other nice stuff and there's no denying it.

Be glad that there is something that offers all of this.

I would only add for xtremeph that harping on about a problem that's already been acknowledged isn't a good use of your time. I've used a lot of free hosts and I urge you to try them out - most don't even respond to forum comments. Yes, quite a few sites were having significant issues but at least here there's a sense that they are being worked on. Sorting out issues on servers that are loaded with all kinds of cr*p like the the x10 servers has got to be quite a challenge.

I just checked my site again and it is working BETTER than ever.
It is very fast now and NO more 503 errors.
Whatever you guys did WORKED!

PS. As the original author of this thread, I want to say that I am sorry about the way some other clients, with less patience, were unfairly critical of this FREE service and those who maintain it.
THANK YOU AGAIN.

Great. I have contacted my hosting parties and they have solved this problem for me. It only takes a few minutes alone. :) :)
