Error Pages Not Functioning

I have made a handful of error pages for my website using the Error Pages feature in my cPanel. However, none of them seem to be working.

For example, http://adamparkzer.x10hosting.com/404.shtml exists, but if you go to a page that doesn't exist, like http://adamparkzer.x10hosting.com/doesntexist.php , the error page doesn't appear, and the standard x10hosting 404 Error page appears.

Any ideas?

you have to add lines to .htaccess

for a 404 error page

ErrorDocument 404 /path_to_404_error_file.html/
