Facebook is beating MySpace worldwide

New numbers from metrics firm ComScore show that in May, the battle of the social-networking sites may have gained a new front-runner: Facebook appears to have surpassed longtime rival MySpace in worldwide unique visitors for the first time. ComScore representatives said that this began in April when Facebook passed MySpace by a hair, and widened in May.

Well thats true for me, I have a Facebook account and a Bebo account, no Facebook. I always found facebook to be too 'messy'. The fact that everyone could have an entirely different theme meant every single page was different. Bebo is much the same, just a little better.

Facebook has the right idea though, each page is different enough to let people customise it, but the site has some structure.

Maybe MySpace is just getting a little too 'bloated' in its attempts to do everything? I personally don't like it, seems too over the top and ugly in my opinion. Facebook is cleaner and I think the layout is more intuitive.

Myspace is basically very unoriginal. They have modeled some of their new options because of what makes Facebook so great, but in the end, myspace is becoming slower and laggier, and Myspace is getting very unresponsive these last few days. Maybe that's why many users are moving towards Facebook, because Myspace is too slow for their internet.

MySpace is gumming down their servers with MySpace music and MySpace TV. That's their problem. But that might explain something.

I've found that MySpace has loads of weird domains like http://www.myspacecdn.com/ and all that. Would it be better to consolidate things under one domain and have videocdn.*, musiccdn.* and imagecdn.*? Just wondering if that might ease the mess a little bit.

But MySpace is really bloated, whereas Facebook has a modern, clean design and loads of innovative features.
