Hello everyone. I am currently using Fedora 10 on my portable drive. I really like it and it runs superfast. I know I shouldn't have gotten Fedora 10 cause its way to advanced for Linux beginners but I'm gonna stick with it.

I am looking for some websites that teach you basics and stuff like that about Linux case I can't even install a program.

And I'm also looking for some good software that I should install on Linux when I learn how to install:p And it doesn't have to be open source or free. I will pay for it.

Thank you

*Hint: to install anything on fedora, you use the yum command.

like first go to terminal,
type in su and identify yourself as root
and say i want to install pidgin
you would type in
"yum install pidgin"

Which would install pidgin, there's a little more to that, sometimes they ask you Y/N questions so :)

Hope I helped a little?

yes, just use the yum command.

all the software is in the repositories. so you don't have to download any packages. that's what I like about linux.

Hello everyone. I am currently using Fedora 10 on my portable drive.

On your portable drive? That sounds interesting. I've got Fedora 9 on a disk somewhere.
Could I load that onto my 16gb usb flash drive?

I would be interested in finding some useful / helpful links as well.
( As well as useful / helpful software ) for using on Fedora 10.

I am installing that as a Unix Sys-Admin that my neighbor works for and is currently training under to take over when he leaves, uses it as his server. So instead of my other thread where I was leaning towards WinServer 03, I'm going to take a crack at Fedora.

So any helpful sites ( that walk ya through setting Fedora as a server - that has 1 XP machine, 2 external drives and a Vista machine connecting to it - or will be ) and some useful, interesting or helpful software would be nice.
