Files missing

I have files missing from my site. Was there anything that could have caused a loss of files? I'm on server xo1. A number of images are missing.

My site is at dancecarolinas.com.

There were maintenance a few months back where we moved everything to new hardware, it is possible that the images got lost at that point. There should still be backups available from that though so all is not lost. Do you have any idea on what path the images should be stored (public_html/folder1/folder2 type path)? I don't want to risk overwriting something newer by restoring a full backup.

The files seem to be missing from this folder:
public_html/images/gallery
There should be other files and folders besides the ones that currently appear there. I'm not too worried about overwriting. I've already backed up the current files and I will do that again if the old files can be restored. There is also data missing from my database. I would rather not post the database structure publicly though.
