Hi .. I am new to this and have currently installed elgg through softaculous on my site ... its not working ocrrectly and ive been bouncing back and forth between x10 and elgg forums trying to figure out where the problem lies ... at this point im still clueless and have no idea what im doing lol ... elgg states these things are requirements to run their forum ... can someone let me know where to find this type of info within x10

REQUIREMENTS:

  • MySQL 5+
  • PHP 5.4+ with the following extensions:
    • GD (for graphics processing)
    • multibyte string support (for i18n)
    • Proper configuration and ability to send email through an MTA
  • Web server with support for URL rewriting
Official support is provided for the following configurations:

  • Apache server
    • Apache with the rewrite module enabled
    • PHP running as an Apache module
  • Nginx server
    • Nginx with PHP-FPM using FastCGI
By “official support”, we mean that:

  • Most development and testing is performed with these configurations
  • Much of the installation documentation is written assuming Apache or Nginx is used
  • Priority on bug reports is given to Apache and Nginx users if the bug is web server specific (but those are rare).

Hi,

What issue are you having with your Elgg installation? We run Apache with mod_rewrite enabled, PHP 5.5, and MySQL 5. I can't see any problems with the requirements you provided.

Thank you,

I thought maybe I need to do something with permissions, but I would have thought that was done at the time of installation and I didnt really want to go messing with something I didnt know anything about unless i absolutely had to lol ...
