Hello,
I've been searching around and have been wondering if it is possible to run a small IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network with an unpaid account. This would require 2 background processes and the ability to run programs. I know this is possible with shell access, but searching through some forum posts, it looks like I am unable to get shell access with a free account.
I've also searched around, and see that I can get the exec() PHP statement with v3 PHP (advanced).
Before I apply for Advanced PHP, I would like to check with the following:
I think this can accomplish running a program on a server once activated, correct - one that would not end until stopped? And if this is not the case, then would I be able to run the IRC with any other way, with an unpaid account?
Thank you for your help.
