Read this whole thread!

Register.com is waiving the fee on domains for the first year for free.

You can sign-up below:
http://www.register.com/promo/acquisitions_lp_1.rcmx?trkID=EMAoFkNb1W

After you register the domain make sure you shut off auto renew

After 60 days you can transfer the domain to another domain registrar to avoid paying their high fees after the first year.

You must have a credit card to sign-up, just be sure to cancel the auto renew so you will not forget in a year and be charged for the renewal

They automatically add something worth $9 to your shopping cart on check out, just go in and remove it.

I'll leave this thread open until I'm notified of the deal being over.

Awesome. My only question is: Does it renew automatically or does it ask you?

What do I have to do to actually take control of the domain? How do I set up real website forwarding? (their "Basic website forwarding" service puts ads on the bottom your browser)

You know how when you get a new PC, the first thing you do is get rid of all the extra software you will never use, then install useful software? Well when you get a domain name, what do you do with it?

Set the nameservers to ns1.x10hosting.com / ns2.x10hosting.com
Either change the primary name in AMP or add the domain in parked or add-on.

Alright, thanks. Are there any more things to configure before I leave it alone for a year?

There are also 4 places to update the DNS servers. Do I update all of them with ns1.x10hosting.com, ns2, ns3 ns4 etc.?
