haha it took me an hour before i got my domain for FREE.

The registration process seems to have some problem when I was registering it using Firefox 3.

(I realised I was charge US$1 in my debit card account, but its ok cause its just a dollar)

The next step is to get myself a PAID hosting plan just before my national service 2 weeks later.

Read this whole thread!

Register.com is waiving the fee on domains for the first year for free.

You can sign-up below:
http://www.register.com/promo/acquisitions_lp_1.rcmx?trkID=EMAoFkNb1W

After you register the domain make sure you shut off auto renew

After 60 days you can transfer the domain to another domain registrar to avoid paying their high fees after the first year.

You must have a credit card to sign-up, just be sure to cancel the auto renew so you will not forget in a year and be charged for the renewal

They automatically add something worth $9 to your shopping cart on check out, just go in and remove it.

I'll leave this thread open until I'm notified of the deal being over.

-Corey

An alternative is to make a free co.cc domain... it doesn't require credit card. If you want, you can use my referal (it's http://www.co.cc/?id=142895 ), but if you don't want to use it, just go to http://forums.x10hosting.com/news-announcements/www.co.cc

They allow you to make 2 domains in your account, after that, you need to donate in order to be able to add more domains. And you can delete domains you no longer need, to stay in the 2 domains limit.

An alternative is to make a free co.cc domain...

But they're not true, top-level domains like the ones being offered here, which is why this offer is superior to most other free ones.

For some nice domains, you can go to http://www.za.net =P
They may be non-toplevel looking, but they're completely free, minus any ads and all the rest :p
No catches btw. ^^

You'll want to click on the subdomains link to the left, click add and look through the domain drop down for one you like. Look under the 'Many many more available...' link for some good ones, like .uk.to or .us.to.

Once you've chosen, choose NS as the type, put ns1.x10hosting.com in the address box, and put your desired subdomain in the subdomain box. For example, for tnl2k7.uk.to, you'd choose .uk.to as the domain and put tnl2k7 as the subdomain.

Then you'd need to add your new domain (tnl2k7.uk.to for me) in the addon domains or parked domains in cPanel. Remember if you want the files to be in the public_html folder you should choose parked; addon if you want it to have a different folder. You could alternatively set it as your main domain via the account management panel (http://x10hosting.com/login).

If you still need help, please make a new thread in one of the off topic forums and I'll help you there; as this one is for discussing the domain promo. Hope it works!

-Luke.
