Hi, I cannot update my website because the ftp password I am entering doesn't work. I am trying the same as I have for the Cpanel, and it works for the cpanel but not for the ftp client. What can I do?

What host name are you entering in your FTP client to connect to?

What about the address you are entering?

Sorry, the host is: ftp.rodrigofontes.x10.mx. Which address do you mean?

I had a similar problem and solved it by just using the website name mywebsite.x10.mx(for example) and not include ftp. Seems to have worked fine for me. I am using FileZilla free ftp program.

Thanks, but it isn't working for me. Anything else I can do, please? I really need to update my site.

I assume you are trying to use your account's FTP and not one - of up to 3 - FTP accounts you can add
also the error message you receive is something like [ 530 Login authentication failed ]

Try this which should set or reset all your passwords to be the same

1. Reset(same as it was) or change your password in the Account Portal (AP)
2. Wait for it to say that the change took effect
3. This is important log out of the account portal and log back in
4. Wait 5 minutes (it takes time to update all the servers in the cluster)
5. Click the blue [ Access cPanel ] button in the AP or use URL https://Absolut.x10hosting.com:2083 and log in with your username and new (reset) password as a test

Now try your FTP client

BTW your server is [ Absolut ] which has had issues the last few days - most of the time you get in (FTP) on the first try

Thank you, but I just tried that too and didn't work. The message that appears is:
Connected (version 2.0, client OpenSSH_5.3)
Authentication failed

I am using FireFTP, if it might help.

I made a test with...
ubuntu - 12.04 LTS 64 bit
Firefox - 19.0
fireFTP - 2.0.11

================================================
In fireFTP --> Edit --> Main
-- Main Details
Account Name: [ (cPanel name) ]
Category: [ "(optioal)" ]
Host: [ (you account's URL) ] <-- rodrigofontes.x10.mx

-- ID
Login: [ (cPanel name) ]
Password: [ (cPanel password) ]
NO check at "Anonymous"
In fireFTP --> Edit --> Connection
-- Connection Type
check at "Passive Mode"
NO check at "IPv6"
Security: [ None ]
Port: [ 21 ]
Private Key: [ blank ]

-- Initial Directories
Local: [ blank for now ] <-- you can set this after you get fireFTP to work
Remote: [ /public_html ]
NO check at "Keep directories in sync while navigating"
In fireFTP --> Edit --> Advanced
-- Web host (used with 'View on the Web' feature)
Host: [ blank ]
Prefix: [ blank ]

-- Timezone Offset
Hours: [ 0 ]
Minutes: [ 0 ]

-- Server Encoding
Character Set: [ UTF-8 ]
click on [ OK ]

click on [ Connect ] <-- near top left of screen

================================================
IF YOU RECEIVE --> [ Unable to make a connection. Please try again. ]
Just click on [ Connect ] again -- your server is [ Absolut ] which has had issues the last few days - most of the time you get in (FTP) on the first try
On one test it took four (4) tries to get in

================================================
The error message you posted [ Connected (version 2.0, client OpenSSH_5.3) ] looks like fireFTP
is trying to connect with SSH
x10hosting's free-hosting accounts DO NOT have SSH
