Okay, so I want to use a domain name I've purchased for 2 things,

1) To be hosted here for a blog

2) To use google apps' mail service to get gmail using the domain.

I'm using godaddy as my registrar, and first time round I did the following.

Changed my account settings on x10hosting.com to point to the new domain xxxxxx.com

Goto godaddy.com, manage domains, and click on manage nameserver.
From here I clicked on "I have a hosting account with these domains". Undernath it says:

If you are hosting your Web site with some other company (you have a hosting account at another provider that is associated with this domain), then enter your provider’s nameservers (you must enter at least two nameservers).

But I don't see anywhere to put them on that page. I carry on and click okay, let it update, hen go into totaldns. Here I add the x10hosting nameservers, but they are now entry 3 and 4 alongside the original godaddy nameservers.

Is this okay? I'm completely new to domain name management so I'm a bit lost. Going to the website address yields nothing, but a whois check says that there are no nameservers registered at the moment anyway, so I'm assuming that's because it hasn't propagated yet.

Thanks for reading this long winded post, hopefully someone can tell me if I'm doing this right!

It seems like the website that is linked to your account isn't working, as my web browser cannot find the specified URL.

As vigge_sWe said, you may want to ask GoDaddy where you should enter your nameservers.

Well I think I get where to put them now. The site won't load because its an .es domain and they take a lot longer to propagate apparently.

The questions is really, what happens if I list 4 nameservers? 2 are x10hosting's and 2 are godaddys?

I ask because I really want the hosting to be done by x10 and its cpanel, but I want Godaddy's interface to handle mx details. Is this possible or will I just have to shift the entire project onto x10?

All DNS should propagate within 48 hours of the time you made the changes.

Although I'm not 100% sure about this, I'm pretty sure the only nameservers you want on the domain are the two from x10Hosting.

Hi quactuar

Having just checked my setup for you, I notice a mistake in how you set up your DNS. You don't want "I have a hosting account with these domains", as this refers to a hosting account with GoDaddy.

Instead, you need to hit "I host my domains with another provider", and then enter the two x10 domain name servers in the first of the four textBoxes provided.

On GoDaddy, go to your DomainManager page, Look at the Nameservers section, and hit 'Manage'; this will take you back to the screen you described earlier, and allow you to change the DNS options.

This should sort you out. Good luck. ;)
