May be. A few days ago, a major DataCenter had some sort of explosion. ( There is a thread on it somewhere in this forum )

The thread about the datacenter explosion is here.

Both the link you posted work fine for me here in the UK, so I don't know why you can't get to Google.

couldnt have been the data explosion - youtube went down for 3 and a half hours as it happened - after that, Google, Youtube and Yahoo and 8997+ others were back on..

It maybe your computer or your ISP.

Those other sites were down longer than that, the ones that were on P1 i believe.

Google's been up for the past few days for me, but I didn't notice any downtime, so I can't really tell you anything. Otherwise, I didn't hear about that datacenter explosion.

Both sites load fine for me. Maybe your ISP is having problems with DNS routing, or one of the backbone provides (Global Crossing and the like) is having problems again. I doubt highly Google is experiencing data centre problems, they run their own I think.

its loading fine for me now it was only for about 3 hours
i think it had something to do with them changing their favicon
cause i read on other blogs they've up and down in the last week
but the downtime was in different geographical locations everytime

They did change their favicon, but you don't need to make sites go down for that though. Otherwise, I've never seen a time where Google war down. They probably have a cluster of datacenters around should one go down.

Changing a favicon doesn't result in such major issues. It only takes overwriting the existing one or editing a line of HTML code to point to the new favicon. It's more likely they were updating them or something, because Google has thousands of servers; one piece of networking gear breaking isn't a problem for them.

Maybe the datacenter affected google too. But I'm not sure.

Nothing with the favicon affects downtime. It's just an image, it doesn't affect the whole loading of the page.

Maybe your ISP/Modem/Computer has something wrong, try restarting your modem or computer, or contact your isp. If not, then maybe your ISP and or IP is banned from google because of a bad history, google could ban you from using their services.

I highly doubt that google would just go up and down, because google has a massive IT team.
