glad to have registered with x10, it is probably the best free web hosting i ever seen,

however, what frustrating is the server that holds my account is blocked by the vicious Chinese GFW (great firewall), so i can not access it normally...what even more frustrating is if i speak freely and criticize them as i want here, they might block this forum, the "50 cents army" and "net police" are everywhere, the communist dictatorship really has too many taboos...

sorry to complain here...

you don't need to feel sorry saying this, i think it frustrates all the peace-loving people. it is a political problem, as long as the red communist continues to rule, more and more site will be blocked, until one day, the will maintain a whitelist rather than a blacklist, people only allowed to browse the sites in the whitlist, by then, the largest and isolated LAN on this planet will be completed.

so my only hope is countries like China will realize democracy in a foreseeable future

I think if internet sites are threat to country, government, society, children, culture or industries then every government has right to block them. And that's what Chinese government is doing to protect communism in China. If people of China really want democracy than why we don't see powerful protests in Chinese soil.

Our country recently blocked bulk SMS/MMS recently due to Ayodhya verdict. This was done to prevent communal violence/riots.In future when 3G and broadband will have deep penetration in our daily life, than under conditions like possible riots due to misinformation government might block some social networking sites. So I think what China or Iran are doing is there internal matter and people of those countries should be concerned about it not us.

@bhupendra, I think you are correct to some extent. But I'm not talking just about internet. I'm also taking about their step by step invasion in India.

I'm really sorry for your situation over there in China, as I believe Internet should be something everyone should be able to access freely without censoring. Although I can't convince the Chinese government to stop censoring Internet or something like that, I really hope that some day, the government over there change their minds and see the usefulness of the Internet.

Lately, the EU is heading toward censoring the Internet as China do, maybe to same extent, maybe not, but it's not a good thing. New laws are being made limiting what a user can do, are allowed to watch. New proposals are being made, both in EU and in Sweden. A politician here in Sweden tries to convince the parliament to censor Internet, and the Pirate Party is trying their best into stopping it, although if we succeed is not known, as we do not have any power because we didn't make the parliament limit in the latest election a month ago. EU and the parliament claims the censor is to stop child pornography, which is a lie. Recent research showed that of the 143 sites in the censor list in Scandinavia, only 7 sites actually contained child pornography.

if they just censor child pornography or violence or whatever real illeagal, i think most people won't mind, but they've gone too far, no one really knows how long the list is, which includes youtube, twitter, facebook, blogspot...

by the way, i have a good news here, the jailed Chinese prodemocracy figure Liu Xiaobo is very likely to win this year's Nobel Peace Prize, against the pressure from Chinese government, if so, it will definitely have positive effect to China

Not only do I think China's Politicians are being unfair but all so they are starting to block stuff that will not only create a barrier for some people to "get out there" and get to know the rest of the world better or make new friends but they are also recking (my opinion) The country's reputation in business and trade because china is and still will be a great exporter of goods and a great trader. So in other words, Yes I feel sorry for you for what happens over there... Great hosting though eh...
