I am have a joomla based web site with a wordpress subdomin. There is only the sample data that comes with the default installation in each o fthese sites. One or both the two has caused 'high resource useage' problems. The pages of the sites, both public and admin, are very slow to appear. The connection to the MySQL database is very frequently dropped.

Does anyone have any tips on configuring Joomla and/or Wordpress to work better with X10 Free hosting to prevent these problems?

Hello,

Unfortunately those errors are quite common and vague. If you could provide a little more information on them like the exact error that occurs and what install you're running, whether you're using plugins/mods for them as well would be useful.

Don't use the automatic updater, do everything manually.

I've found to avoid resource suspension with joomla and WP, you should disable any caching, and keep plugins/extensions to a minimum. Also, when installing extensions in joomla, extract the files on your computer, then upload them to the /tmp directory in a folder of your choice, then install that way. Also, keep and eye on the error logs in cpanel, so you can keep track of any pages that are causing errors.
