Help Please

I don't know what this is called, but for example, someone has a URL like:
www.site.com/script/yeh
I've seen websites(including the server status images here) that can get "yeh" from the URL, without having something like ?stuff=blah, I'm working with PHP, can someone tell me how that's done?
...Or do I have to change some things in the settings like apache handlers.

So are you talking about url rewriting.

The most common use for Mod_ewrite is for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It is used to trick the spider into thinking dynamically created pages are static.
