Hi,

I'm trying to connect to the MySQL database using a program called NaviCat but then it says it cannot connect. I've added my Access Host in cPanel to the list but still it doesn't work. It actually worked with my previous host but now I don't know what is going wrong. Any advice please?

PM me the IP address that you're using to connect to the server with. It is probably being blocked by the firewall.

What are the connection details you are using in NaviCat?

We do not allow open access to this to prevent security issues. We are only able to allow designated IP addresses through the firewall when requested. Your address being dynamic, I'm not sure this would work for you.

@lambada

I'm using the following:

Hostname: legend.x10Hosting.com
Port:3036
username: mysqlusername
password: mysqlpassword

I've actually tried different combinations for the Hostname too like entering the IP address of the host but that didn't work either.

@Corey

Thanks a lot. Will it be possible to add the IP address as a wildcard atleast? Like say, XX.XX.%.%?

I can only add CDIR(Might be CIDR) ranges or the IP.

How often does this IP change? I really would not feel comfortable with adding a whole range that could possibly encompass thousands of IPs...

Have you ever tried to use phpMyAdmin located in cPanel? It's real easy to use and can probably do the same things as NaviCast can.

I'm having the same problem as legend. I am trying to publish some stuff to my mySQL data base and i have no idea what to put for the hostname. This is what i am putting right now:

Hostname: server3.x10hosting.com
Port: 3306
username: mysql database username
password: mysql database password

I cannot seem to get it working. If it helps, I am trying to publish some stats from my gaming clan site into the mysql database. I've just signed up, but i cant seem to get this thing working. Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance! :happysad:

Oh... Well, it changes everytime I restart my computer... I know, its not a good idea to add a whole range... I never had any problem because I was allowed to connect... I was able to add my IP then and there when it changed and I was able to connect...

Yes... The only reason I'm trying to use NaviCat is because of its speed. It gives me some really awesome speeds. PhpMyAdmin too gives me a good speed except that loading large tables takes ages... :happysad:

Sorry... I forgot to mention that it was on my previous host... Not x10hosting...

I'm not sure there is much we can do besides recommend to use phpMyAdmin, I've never heard of NaviCat, is it something that you can install locally on your account so it doesn't have to go through the firewall?

NaviCat is a local program that can connect to host sql databases. Its a Windows Based Program. Anyways, I don't want to trouble you though. i'd ask for a solution only if it is possible in an easier way...

I can't think of a way to do it unless your IP stays static or atleast does not change often. Let me know if you have any other thoughts.
